BOOKS II

So it continuous the books tips! This is the only way I’m allowed to travel with this rise of the dollar here in Brazil, so here we go!

  • Bella Tuscany, The Sweet Life in Italy_ Frances Mayes

From the same author of Under the Tuscany Sun, that became a movie, this book of Frances Mayes is a delicious reading, a daily life description of her life in Tuscany, near Cortona. It’s about the discovery and the feeling of being living in a foreigner country, very diferent from her home country, you feel every discovery like if you were there drinking a bottle of wine and feeling the warm wind.

  • Journaliers_Isabelle Eberhardt

A desert lover, a traveler and a life adventorous. Isabelle soffered from what all good travelers soffer, of boredom of daily life and of desire to get to know whats was diferet from she already knew. Since she was a kid, she used to dress like a men, and when in Algeria she started to dress like a arabian men.

She joined the Islamism, she felt in love for friends, she crossed the Sahara, all with the same passion. By this book is possible to be very close to her thoughts from 1900 to 1903.  I highgly recommend this book, wasn’t easy to find it in Brazil, but you should give a try!

  • The African_ J. M. G. Le Clézio

In the colonial time, the author lived in Africa with his family, he give us a real retrat of his life and have an especial view of his father, how he changed along the years and kept some habits from this wild, vivid, and unexplored Africa where they lived for so many years. The kids, the author and his brother, clearly foreign, played like there was no tomorrow, the mam had some help of the designated employees in this huge change. I’ts a family memory that must be read, very interesting, draws attention to the european colonialism in developing countries.

Till next!
